Article 14 Let Justice Roll Down like a River NEWS RELEASE: February 17th, 2005 By Bishop Dr. Douglas Muchiri Recent developments in Kenya call for a response from all peace loving friends of Kenya and Kenyans everywhere. Our message to Kenya is please allow the much-needed [much-needed] house cleaning process to prevail and - “Let Justice Roll Down like a River”. We must however caution that to do so is a laboring, painful and expensive process that demands everyone’s sacrificial support regardless of one’s status, gender, tribe, religion, or political affiliation. In other words, everyone must pull together in the same direction at the same time for only then can we allow Justice, Peace and Prosperity to reign in Kenya. For this to happen, the following is advised: Rule of Law It is ironical to demand justice and the rule of the law and at the same time, organize events that contradict or undermine this process. In this regard, those advocating storming into the statehouse or parliament are gravely misguided. A better approach is to creatively offer pressure within the parameters of the law, without necessarily inciting or exciting the masses to contravene the very law being advocated. Stepping Down The resignation of cabinet ministers and high ranking civil servants adversely mentioned in cases of corruption must be encouraged. And for those adversely mentioned, this is a more gracious exit strategy as opposed to begin fired. So all those adversely mentioned in corruption be they in government and in the opposition should graciously step down in order to allow justice to roll down like a river for how can they lead while they remain negatively stained?
Voting Responsibly On the other hand, the key to power rests upon the Mwananchi because it is the Mwananchi that votes the said corrupt leaders in the first place. What is happening now must be a wake up call for all Kenyans to vote responsibly if they want a government of integrity. So armed with the vote, Kenyans have the power to determine the destiny of Kenya by voting integrity instead of corruption. Support of the President That this President has allowed or is allowing the machinery of justice to prevail is commendable. Indeed the president has done what other presidents naturally fail to do. For this reason, rather than fight him, Kenyans must accord him the much-needed support to finish what he has just begun. Let us all be advised that what is happening is not easy and changing guard midstream does not help. The wise thing to do therefore is not to fight the instrument of justice, but rather offer support. The former President, Mr. Daniel Moi, exemplified this very fact last week, when he called upon the Kenyans to support President Kibaki on this particular war. Divine Intervention The power of prayer and intercession plays a significant role in the socio-political landscape of Kenya. For this reason, we call upon all Kenyans everywhere to earnestly fast and pray for the Kenya so that peace and justice may boldly roll down like a river. The power of prayer will also allow the hand of the Almighty to reign supreme in Kenya. Respectively Submitted by, Bishop Dr. Douglas Muchiri P. O. Box 256 Urbana, Ohio. USA » TOP |
