Genesis of ASCA |
Genesis of ASCA The genesis of the All Saints Church Alliance dates back to July 11th, 12th and 13th 2003 when the Rev. Dr. Douglas Muchiri organized a Revival Camp Meeting under the theme “Redigging the Wells of Revival” at the Champaign County Fair Grounds in Urbana, Ohio. Present at the camp meeting were brethren from Indiana led by the Rev. John Kamwenji. It was in this meeting that the Lord gave Douglas the burden and the vision to bring together Kenyan Pastors and Churches in the USA. Out of this vision, Dr. Muchiri declared “this month next year, I will organize a national convention for the Kenyan community in the US here in Ohio ” In building up for the Ohio convention, Rev. Kamwenji of Rise Up and Walk Ministries hosted the first Alliance convention on November 28th, 29th and 30th, 2003, in Elkhart Indiana under the theme “From Breakdown to Breakthrough”. Speakers in this Conference included the Rev. Dr. Douglas Muchiri of Ohio, Rev. John Kamwenji of Indiana, Rev. Grace Kariuki of Virginia, Rev. Samuel Gichuki of Georgia, Rev. James Kariuki of Minnesota and the Rev. Samuel Maina of Indiana. In Elkhart, an ad hoc steering committee comprising of Dr. Douglas Muchiri, Rev. John Kamwenji, Rev. James Kariuki, Rev. Samuel Gichuki and Evangelist Sammy Kamwenji was formed to map out the way forward for the Alliance. It was also agreed that Rev. Samuel Gichuki host the next conference in Georgia and thereafter Rev. James Kariuki would host the Minnesota Conference. In February 2004, the Atlanta Conference was held in Marietta. The speakers in this Conference included Dr. Douglas Muchiri of Ohio, Bishop Dr. Daniel Tanui of Georgia, Reverends James Kariuki of Minnesota, John Kamwenji of Indiana, Joshua Wambua of Massachusetts, Steve Kamau of Delaware, and Pastor David Wambua or North Carolina. While in Georgia, Dr. Douglas Muchiri spoke prophetically that the next conference was to take place in Boston in May 28th, 29th and 30th, 2004. The Rev Joshua Wambua of Boston stood up and accepted this word as from the Lord. Come May 2004, many Saints gathered at the Boston conference under the theme “Continued Commitment to Purpose”. The speakers included Dr. Douglas Muchiri of Ohio, Bishop Dr. Daniel Tanui of Georgia, Reverends John Kamwenji of Indiana, Joshua Wambua of Massachusetts, James Kariuki of Minnesota, David Wambua of North Carolina, John Waiyaki and Wachira of Massachusetts, Jones Makau of California and Missionary Joshua Paul of Korea. The first International Convention took place on July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 2004 in Ohio with a record attendance of 350 persons from Kenya and the continental US. The main speaker at the Convention was Bishop John Masinde of Deliverance Church, Kenya. Other speakers included Bishop Dr. Armstrong Cheggeh of Kentucky, Bishop Dr. Daniel Tanui of Georgia, and the Reverends Joshua Wambua of Massachusetts, Johnes Makau of California, Evangelist Elder Lois Mereka of Kenya, and Pastor Alex Musyoka of Georgia. In attendance also was the renowned Kenyan Evangelist, Apostle Josphat Kiriungi. On Saturday July 3rd, 2004, a business meeting of 33 pastors and church leaders was convened and Dr. Douglas Muchiri exposed the genesis, vision and future development of the movement. Participants unanimously agreed on the Vision, Mission and the Goals of the Alliance. With prayer and the laying of hands, these leaders led by Bishop JB Masinde, Bishop Dr. Armstrong Cheggeh and Apostle Josphat Kiriungi endorsed and anointed the Rev. Dr. Douglas Muchiri as the vision bearer, to lead and setup the structural leadership of the All Saints Church Alliance. » TOP |
